FAQ - How to Handle a Spill

SpillsModern stain resistant carpets are better than ever, but prompt removal of spills is still very important! The more time a spill remains on the carpet, the harder it is to remove, because it has time to absorb into the padding. Over time, some spills may cause permanent staining.

The best approach is to pick up as much of the spill as soon as possible; use a wet/dry vacuum if you have one or blot as much as you can with a white terry towel. Gently scrape up solids with the edge of a spoon.

Always blot the spill rather than rubbing. Work from the edges to the center to avoid spreading the problem. Keep looking at the towel; as long as you are getting a color transfer from the carpet to the towel, you are making progress.

After picking up as much liquid as possible, you can try to clean the spot, use clean water first. If you have a wet/dry vacuum you can pour clean water on the spill and then immediately vacuum the liquid. Repeat until the area is clean. If needed, use some of the HomePro Spotter we left you from your last cleaning. Be sure to read the directions on the label.

NEVER use all-purpose spray cleaners, bleach, or alkaline detergents. YOU CAN DAMAGE YOUR CARPET.
